Amber speaks about her understanding of Irish indigeneity in relation to the ancient past up until the present day and the importance of the opportunity to understand the indigeneity of Ireland. As well as how te ao Māori, the Māori world of Aotearoa new zealand, can be a great inspiration for many aspects of Irelands own reconnection with its indigeneity. Ms Casson represents her ancestors who are from not only Ireland but also Britain and has been working for around 20 years on connecting to a myriad of cultural aspects from Ireland. Ms Casson speaks culturally to some of her connections to te ao Māori here, along with her bachelor of Visual Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Auckland. She works on reclaiming and bringing into a living culture approach information from things such as archaeology, museum records, historical writings and media reports, so that Ireland’s ancestral and indigenous information is not left to the confines of colonisation but is in its rightful place among indigenous life and living.
